In the framework of Bridge 47, the analysis of the Global Citizenship Education in Slovenia was conducted in 2019 (June – September). The purpose of the analysis and recommendations was to facilitate the understanding of the importance of the Global Citizenship Education on national and local level for key stakeholders.

The present analysis includes an overview of the current state of the Global Citizenship Education in Slovenia, including a brief overview of local, national and European GCE policies and a review of relevant national and foreign documents. In addition, the concept of Global Citizenship Education is presented in comparison to the other relevant concepts used in Slovenia (e.g. education for sustainable development, education for human rights, education for global citizenship).

Analysis of the global citizenship education field in Slovenia also provides several recommendations for stakeholders, which represent the starting point for further discussions and improvements.

The national presentation of the report with round table discussion is planned for February 6.

The analysis was prepared by Jana Arbeiter from Centre of International Relations (CIR), an integral part of the research Institute of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. CIR is also SLOGA’s GCE partner within Bridge 47 project.
